"Your teeth should outlive you" is one of my dental philosophies that is spoken almost daily in my practice. My goal is to reduce my patient's dental risk so that they do not need more invasive dentistry.
Today's trend in Cosmetic Dentistry does not recognize the ultimate value of preserving a patient's natural tooth structure. The creation of a beautiful smile should not include grinding away healthy tooth structure in order to change tooth color, position, size, or shape. Utilizing the expertise of dental specialists such as periodontists and orthodontists in some treatment plans may yield a more functional as well as aesthetically pleasing result.
My patients, who have complex needs, have their treatment plans discussed and coordinated with a team of specialists with whom I consult on a regular basis. Every patient in my practice is evaluated for risk factors that may cause them to prematurely lose teeth or tooth structure. Dentistry should not only look great, but be functional and comfortable.
