New Metal Crafts recently completed a major Lighting Restoration project for a historic church in Springfield, Illinois. New Metal Crafts a recognized leader in the field of Lighting Restoration and repair was selected to restore all of historic lighting for The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Chicago was once an important center for the production of decorative lighting. From the Late 1800s through the 1960s many small factories located in Chicago produced carefully handcrafted lighting fixtures that graced the interiors of the cities important public buildings, hotels, stores and private residences.

The 19th century was a particularly rich period of time for the development of European stylings. Antique Lighting of the Empire Period, from approximately 1804 1815, was a classic style generally associated with France.
