Thank you for your interest in Sauganash Montessori School! We are very proud to offer exceptional early childhood education to the Sauganash Community and the surrounding area. We have created two beautiful and spacious classrooms, set in a warm, home-like atmosphere, for children three to six years of age.
Sauganash Montessori School is based on the philosophy and methods of Dr. Maria Montessori. Our Mission is to cultivate the child's own natural desire to learn and provide the child with a prepared environment in which they may freely explore the world around them. In a prepared environment, children experience the excitement of discovery and are fundamentally motivated by a love for knowledge.
Our goal is to guide the child toward an enriched life and successful future. Dr. Montessori believed that each child is born with an "Absorbent Mind". She wrote, "The most important period in life is not the age of university studies, but the first one, the period from birth to the age of six. For this is the time when man's intelligence itself, his greatest implement is being formed."
Did you know the youngest Nobel Peace Prize nominee is a Montessori graduate, the youngest Rhodes Scholar is a Montessori graduate, and the youngest artist to exhibit at the United Nations is a Montessori graduate?
In August, 2003, NAMTA completed a two-year study comparing 150 sixth- and eighth-grade Montessori adolescents to 400 sixth- and eighth-grade students attending traditional schools.
