Wabash General Hospital opened in June of 1951. The Hospital is overseen by a nine member Board of Directors who are appointed by the County Commissioners. Wabash General Hospital has had a management contract with Alliant Management Services since 1987. The hospital has a bed complement of 25.
The total population of the service area is 23,000. The population of Mt. Carmel is 8,000. In Wabash County the population is 6,500. There are an estimated 8,000 in the surrounding counties.
As Wabash General Hospital works to carry out its mission, it is supported by two service organizations - Wabash General Hospital Foundation and the Wabash General Hospital Auxiliary. Both of these organizations are extremely helpful in providing needed funds and volunteer hours to benefit the hospital and, most importantly, our patients.
