Dr. Johnson began his studies in facial form and aesthetics at the University of Illinois. He then took his interest to Northwestern University Medical School, advancing his studies toward developing a clinical practice in plastic and cosmetic surgery. He completed his medical training with Highest Honors from the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society. While at Northwestern University, Dr. Johnson completed extensive training in the discipline of General Surgery and in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery where he had the opportunity to train with some of the finest cosmetic surgeons. Many plastic surgeons discontinue training at this point, but Dr. Johnson continued with Fellowship training at the University of Miami, studying facial aesthetics, facial balance and cosmetic surgery. He returned to the Chicago area to serve as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago, one of the finest teaching programs in the nation.
