At Serenity Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine we understand the balance between primary and adjunctive care and offer an integrated system of health care known as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Acupuncture is a component of this system, the origins of which can be traced back in China more than two thousand years making it one of the oldest and best-known treatment modalities.

Treatments vary and sometimes are combined with accessory techniques such as cupping or moxibustion. Effective in treating a number of disorders; acupuncture is becoming increasingly accepted as a treatment option in today’s society. Importantly, recent studies of the effectiveness of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine are proving out what TCM practitioners have known for centuries

The US National Institute of Health just completed a study that concluded that acupuncture is effective in easing the pain and improving movement for people with arthritis of the knee

This study, the largest to date, with 570 patients showed that patients treated with acupuncture showed a 40% decrease in pain and a nearly 40% improvement in joint (knee) functions.
Acupuncture not just for treatment of pain:
For my patients who are starting or adding to their family, acupuncture has also been shown to be effective in treatment of both male and female infertility. Recent studies have also shown that acupuncture not only helps with natural conception but treatments in conjunction with ART have shown to statistically increase the likelihood of pregnancy.
