Preparing New Drivers for the Road Ahead!
Obtaining a driver's license is a big step for anyone. For new teen drivers, it is one of the first major milestones as they transition into adulthood . Learning to be a confident and defensive driver is an important life skill. Parents of new drivers need to feel comfortable that their child is well prepared to become a responsible member of the driving population. Consider the facts:
Teen drivers are 20 times more likely to be involved in a crash than adult drivers 33% of all first-year drivers are involved in a crash Most crashes are caused by driver error
American Defensive Driving School is one of only two schools in Illinois using the AAA Motor Club's license to learn curriculum. This curriculum teaches teens through video, real-life examples, and interactive activities.
"AAA has worked to pass and strengthen Graduated Driver LIcensing laws throughout the country. Teens learning to drive need a quality education, parental involvement and lots of practice under different driving conditions, They also need to understand the risk they present to themselves and others if they do not take this new responsibilty seriously."
New Adult drivers need instruction that focuses on adult learning principles and an understanding of the challenges that may be a factor in learning a new skill as an adult. Instructors take a holistic approach encompassing both classroom and behind-the-wheel sessions that focus on each individuals needs.
All of our instructors are licensed professionals by the state of Illinois, who are certified to deliver the AAA curriculum.
"My son had a great experience with ADDS. His instructors were well versed, laid back and taught the class with a sense of humor which helps when your dealing with teenagers, especially boys! Since my son played on a travel baseball team along with about eight other kids in his class, Toni the office manager did a smashing job on accommodating all of our kids schedules concerning baseball games, even to the point of getting them in before actual class times for class room instruction so that they would not miss or fall behind. I don't know of any driving school that would have been willing to do that! I liked the fact that the instructors and Toni really knew who my kid was and could make insightful comments on his progress. Everyone had a great rapor with each other. I have never hesitated in recommending this school to people whose kids wanted to start driving. I am glad that are part of the Evanston business community and hope that they continue to instruct out young men and daughters."
"American Defensive Driving School was there for our family when our previous school went out of business over night! My son had completed his classroom work at the other school, but had not done his over the road sessions. I saw ADDS advertised in the school newspaper and went in person to check out the school. Much to my surprise and delight, Toni was behind the desk. What a relief. She knew my son and me, and was able to get us back in the drivers seat right away. The expertise and professionalism is superb. The customer service is unmatched. Toni and the staff of ADDS go out of their way to make the whole teenage driving experience as smooth as possible for all involved. Our experience was so good, my daughter will be going there this summer! Warmly, Chris"
"My 15-year old son had a positive classroom experience at ADD. He found the sessions to be informative and the instructors were able to keep him engaged. As a parent I appreciated that the class not only focused on safety and the basic rules of the road but also gave general instruction in car maintenance. I favorably recommend ADD for teenagers seeking to acquire their driving permits."
"American Defensive Driving School is a much needed addition to the community. Everyone involved was very professional and accommodating. My son had a positive experience and came out feeling comfortable and confident when it was time to take his test. Thank you for everything!"
Dad in Skokie:
"My wife, son and I couldn't have been more pleased than we were with everyone associated with American Defensive Driving School. Junior couldn't wait to get his license as soon as he turned 16. However, due to a quite unpleasant experience with another driving school, it looked as tho he would have to wait awhile to complete his driving requirements and necessary paperwork. Toni and the staff at ADDS stepped right in to fill the void in a professional, pleasant and caring way. They showed they truly understand what Customer Service should be.Thank you, ADDS, for making one 16-year-old's birthday wish come true on time."
