From Saturday, November 6 until Tuesday, November 9, 2010 westbound routes will detour under the viaduct on Capitol Avenue and will not use 4th Street. Regular bus stops at 4th and Adams and 4th and Jefferson will be closed.

Buses operate on regular schedules Monday through Saturday. System delays, detours, etc. will be posted here as they occur. On light snow days, buses may run 5 to 10 minutes late during peak traffic hours. Large accumulations of snow or ice and excessive flooding may cause disruptions of service. Call 522-5531 for confirmation of your route's status.
The Springfield Mass Transit District (SMTD) provides public transportation on 17 fixed routes throughout the Springfield, Illinois area. An additional route provides service, on Saturdays only, to Southwind Park.
The fixed-route buses provide service to medical facilities, major employment centers, tourist attractions, major retail shopping centers, schools, colleges, professional buildings, the central business district and all major points of interest.
Most buses are lift-equipped or have ramps to provide accessibility to those who cannot board the bus via steps. All routes are accessible, but all trips on each route may not be accessible. Check the "Routes & Schedules" page to verify the trips that are accessible.
The SMTD also operates Access Springfield, which is origin-to-destination service for persons with disabilities who cannot use the fixed-route SMTD buses. Consult the "Access Springfield" page for more information.
