Story Time: Mondays from 10:00 - 10:30 a.m. Story Time is open to ages 2-5 and is held in the Parish Hall. Children can bring their parents, grandparents, or any caregiver. The Story Time will be led by Maureen Burke. We need help in spreading the word!
Youth Group Wreath Sale: Christmas Wreaths are now on sale from one of the members of our Youth Group or in the Parish Hall. Wreaths, garlands, swags, pine cones and mail-away wreaths are available. Proceeds from this sale will benefit the mission trip for the youth. Orders must be received by November 14 with delivery December 2. Thank you for your support! Advent Celtic Service - Thanksgiving Weekend: Please join us on Sunday, November 28 at 7:00 p.m. for our annual Advent Celtic Service. The Celtic Service employs the use of candlelight, darkness, fresh greens, a stone Celtic cross, and an intimate setting around the altar in order to center us in this time of worship and prayer as we enter the season of Advent.
Winter Coat Drive: Schultz & Odhners Cleaners, owned by parishioners Cory & Colleen Schipfer, are once again accepting gently used outer jackets and coats for their Annual Charity Coat Drive. They will clean the coats so they are fresh and ready to wear. Coats are donated to several charitable organizations, including Lake Cook Health Care Center. You can drop your donations off at Schultz & Odhners at 1152 Central Avenue, Wilmette or at church in the Parish Hall Coat area. Collection starts October 1 and runs throughout winter. CATHEDRAL SHELTER CHRISTMAS BASKETS: Give the Gift of Christmas! Will you help to share the joy of the Christmas season with those less fortunate? Cathedral Shelter each year provides us with lists to make Christmas happen for those who might not have much food or any presents without our help. Our assigned families range in size from single seniors to a family of eleven, with any size in between. You will receive detailed, easy-to-follow directions for doing a basket and the comforting feeling that goes with having shared your gifts with those in need. Choose the size family you can provide for or choose a larger family and combine your efforts with friends. Stop the Violence: St James Cathedral has teamed up with The Fourth Presbyterian and St. Sabinas to take bus loads of people down to Springfield on Wednesday, Nov 17 to lobby for gun restrictions. Quilts Beyond Borders: Our last batch of quilts went to Todd and Patsy McGregor in Madagascar for them to distribute, and you will see photos and thank you letters from some of the recipients on one of the bulletin boards in the Parish Hall and also online here.. Quilt tops, which we are making for Ethiopian Orphans, have been cut out ready for you to take home and sew. Simple instructions and a photograph showing the placement of the fabrics are included in the kit. Once it is sewn, you can either bring it back to St James the Less for someone else to quilt, or talk with one of us and we will explain what the next steps are.
Do you like choral music? Tune in to "With Heart and Voice" every Sunday morning on WMFT 98.7 from 6 - 7 a.m. It's a great way to wake up gently and get your Sunday started in an attitude of worship!
Yoga at St. James the Less: Classes will now start at 9:00 a.m. and run until 10:15 a.m. on Saturday mornings, held either in the church hall or basement. Come one, come all!

Eat Pancakes, Support the Youth! Butterfield's Pancake House, in the shopping center on the South West corner of Sanders and Dundee Roads in Northbrook, has agreed to donate 15% of each bill to St. James The Less when a parishioner comes in to eat. All you have to do is tell them that you are from St. James the Less and they will keep track of your bill and donate 15% to our Youth Group funds. So go enjoy some wonderful pancakes, waffles, omelets, sandwiches, soups, and salads and support our youth!

Please remember to bring canned goods for the Northfield Township Food Pantry. The Pantry accepts unopened, unexpired frozen & perishable items such as milk, cheese, eggs, fruit & vegetables. Additional needs for Fall 2010 include: DRINKS (COFFE, TEA, JUICE, JUICE BOXES). MASHED POTATOES, STUFFING, BAKING ITEMS, and BREAKFAST ITEMS (CEREAL, OATMEAL, PANCAKE MIX & SYRUP).
