Gordyville was founded by Legendary auctioneer Gordon and his wife, Jan Hannagan. After years of sales on the road in 39 states and 2 dominions of Canada and setting up estate sales and land sales at other venues, Gordon wanted to have a place of his own to have his auctions and establish a Midwestern equine and auction showplace. He created Gordyville and it boasts 160,000 square feet of space to host any kind of event. It consists of two 100’ x 270’ arenas and room for 650 portable stalls all under one roof that is heated in the winter and has new ventilation fans to cool it in the summer. It is equipped with food concessions, wash racks, new "green" lighting and 40 acres of parking.
All of the Hannagan family is involved with Gordyville. Gordyville is host to 3 days of flea markets and consignment estate sales every 2nd full weekend of the month. In January we host the Midwest Winter Nationals Tractor Pull which draws entrants and 10,000 spectators from Nebraska to New York. A week later is the Midwest Agricultural show with every new innovation for farming and drawing over 5000 visitors. In February, two weekends are filled with American Quarter Horse Shows run by daughters, Mary, Patty, a professional announcer and auctioneer, and Jody. Gordyville is also host to the Midwest Draft horse sale featuring the best Belgians and Percherons in the country and drawing 500 horses and 10,000 spectators. The first weekend of March is the Farm machinery and equipment consignment sale, and the Gordyville Breeders Cup NRHA show which has a history of paying out over $140,000.00 in prize money and has been one of the top 10 reining horse shows for entries nationally and internationally. April, May, June and July are filled with the state’s largest Paint, Arabian, Appaloosa, Miniature, POA, NRHA, NBHA, and Quarter horse shows. Memorial weekend host the National Barrel Horse Great Lakes Finals with over 700 head of horses. The first weekend of November is the Central State’s Rodeo Finals featuring the top 10 cowboys, cowgirls, rough stock and bulls in the 7 surrounding states. The Gifford State Bank hosts its Christmas Craft show with over 500 vendors and 5,000-7000 visitors. In December is the Gordyville Antique Show. Concerts and car sales are future goals to accomplish.
