Whether your need is right now or in the future, there are important things for you to know and consider when making funeral arrangements. For many years funeral goods and services were available only through funeral homes with little or no regulation by the federal government. In recent years though, that has changed with the federal law known as the “Funeral Rule”. Enforced by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Funeral Rule is a broad and sweeping piece of legislation that strictly regulates funeral homes for the purpose of protecting consumers’ rights and allowing for consumers to have a choice of funeral products and services at competitive prices and quality in the marketplace.
