Cessford's Business Statement
Cessford Construction Company is a supplier of construction materials servicing central Iowa, Southeast Iowa and west central Illinois with hot mix asphalt, crushed limestone, sand and gravel and ready mix. With locations in Des Moines, Henry, Lee, Marshall and Van Buren counties in Iowa and Hancock, Henderson, Warren and Mercer counties in Illinois and Clark in Missouri.
Cessford Construction Company was incorporated in 1965 by Harold Cessford, Wood Weaver and Ronald Kenyon who became officers, Directors and Shareholders. The new company, based in LeGrand, Iowa was primarily in limestone and hot mix asphalt production and paving.
The following year the company expanded with the acquisition of a fleet of trucks. The new company, called KWIK Trucking was incorporated in 1966. Mr. Cessford, Weaver and Kenyon became majority stockholders and officers of the newly formed company.
In 1969, Wood Weaver passed away and his interests in the company were acquired by Mr. Cessford and Mr. Kenyon who remained majority stockholders and officers.
Cessford Construction Company undertook a major expansion when it acquired Raid Quarries in 1980. Included in that acquisition was were numerous limestone, sand and Gravel operations including hot mix Asphalt servicing Southeast Iowa and West Central Illinois.
In 1981 Ronald Kenyon sold his interests in the company to Harold Cessford, who at that time became the majority stockholder. Mr. Cessford remained active in the management of the company until his death on October 30, 1991. At that time his wife, Mercedes became the owner and majority stockholder. She was active in that role until she passed away on June 15, 2002.
Ownership was transferred to Ms. Heidi Cessford Krabbe who took an active role in the day-to-day management of the company as President and CEO. In addition to Heidis daily direction she provided the company with a dedicated means of setting strategic direction and plan execution. It was there, Heidi determined that the industry was consolidating and in order for the Cessford Construction organization to grow and remain strong a new direction would need to be considered.
On August 10, 2007, Oldcastle Materials, a division of CRH, located in Dublin, Ireland, acquired Cessford Construction from Ms. Heidi Cessford-Krabbe. Cessford Construction joined a team which included Hallett Materials, Des Moines Asphalt and Paving, Nuckolls Concrete Services, American Concrete Products and Southern Minnesota Construction. Together this group is OMG Midwest, Inc and provides the leadership, resources and people to service the state of Iowa, Illinois and Minnesotas construction needs.
