Event celebrates Romero Scholars, honors Hispanic minister
Guests gathered at CTU on October 15, 2010, for a celebration of the Romero Scholars Program. Festivities included a buffet dinner, live music, and the presentation of the Oscar A. Romero Award to Rev. Gary Riebe-Estrella. This annual event helps to promote the Romero Scholars Program at CTU. The program, in cooperation with the Archdiocese of Chicago, forms Hispanic lay men and women for ministry within the Archdiocese.

Director of Augustus Tolton Program reflects on black Catholic experience
In an article which appeared on CNN.com September 5, 2010, Dr. C. Vanessa White explores the journey of Fr. Augustus Tolton and how his experiences resonate with black Catholics today. Fr. Tolton, the first recognized African American priest, is currently being considered for sainthood.

"Hispanic Art and Latino Theology"

Lecture and exhibit prompt conversations on culture, symbolism
Guests gathered at CTU on October 13 for, Artistic Expression Hispanic Art and Latino Theology, a lecture by Dr. David A. Snchez, followed by the opening of Coram Deo, a collection of visual artist Sergio Gomezs work. The exhibit will be open through January 5, 2011 in the Mary-Frances and Bill Veeck Art Gallery.
