Menard County Fair Queen Crowned - The 155th Annual Menard County Fair began on Tuesday July 20th, 2010 for a full 6-day run. Opening night in the grandstand featured the annual Little Miss, Junior Miss, and Fair Queen pageants. Haley Bock is the 2010 Miss Menard County, Alexis Coffee is the new Junior Miss Menard County, and Ella Reed is the new Little Miss Menard County. They were crowned by Haley Freeman, the 2009 Miss Menard County and 2010 Miss Illinois County Fair Queen. Additional details regarding the Menard County Fair are available at www.menardcountyfair.com
For tourists and other visitors, Petersburg and Menard County are nationally known for a great antique shopping experience, as well as proximity to several historical sites such as Abe Lincoln's nearby New Salem State Park. New Salem is the local log cabin village where Abraham Lincoln lived and worked as he prepared for his role in changing the course of our national destiny. As President (1861-1865) of the United States, Lincoln guided our country with the knowledge and wisdom that he had developed here on the banks of the Sangamon river.
