Savings for seniors is for you, if you have a senior cat- 12 and older. We offer a discount on routine services like exams and vaccines, and screenings that benefit older cats, such as blood and urine testing and blood pressure (especially for cats with kidney disease or hyperthyroidism). This discount is available on the first and third Friday each month. This is available to all age-eligible cats, whether they are current or new patients. Please call to schedule an appointment. This is our way to emphasize how important these screenings are to older cats, and to encourage follow up of conditions that are more common in our older cats, like kidney disease, diabetes, and hyperthyroidism. Packets of information about the different disease processes and geriatric cats are available on request or at the time of diagnosis of one of the conditions. Join us on Facebook for more information as well.
Fall is here, so watch for allergies-chewing, redness, scabs, especially on the legs, abdomen, feet, possibly the face, too. We see an increase in urinary crystal formation and that means more inappropriate urination, potential blockages, frequent urination, and other painful problems. We also see a few cats with vestibular syndrome- they can be wobbly, lack balance, and have abnormal eye motion. It is a temporary condition, but we do recommend an exam if you see suspicious symptoms. Call to schedule an appointment if you suspect a problem or have any questions.
We have hired new staff members Katie and Kristin, and our technician Dawn is now part time, as she has a full time position at Brookfield Zoo. Katie is a veterinary and kennel assistant, and Kristin is our new receptionist. Please welcome them both!
We continue to reward current clients with an account credit for participating in our Re-Furral program. If you recommend us and that person becomes a client, you both get a credit of $25 for your next visit, or food or medication purchase, etc. It's our way of saying Thank You for letting us take care of your cats!
Named as one of Chicagoland's best veterinary practices by Chicago magazine, we have been providing the best of veterinary medical care for cats exclusively for over 20 years. We do so in an environment of peace and tranquility where cats can better thrive and be restored to health without the stress of barking dogs and lots of noise. All cats prefer calm and quiet but it is no more important than when they are sick or away from home. Comfy beds, real tuna and catnip are a few of the other amenities we provide to reassure them that they safe and secure.
The many years of working exclusively with cats means that we are highly tuned in to their very subtle communications, easily missed by the inexperienced or casual observer. And all of our continuing education is devoted to feline medicine and surgery only, rather than for a variety of species. This enables us to keep up with the most recent information in feline veterinary care.
The Cat Practice is a fully accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association. Regular inspections by this organization ensure that we comply with the association's high quality standards of care.
All of us at The Cat Practice consider ourselves privileged to work only with cats. We emphasize preventive medicine for long, healthy and happy lives and look forward to a lasting relationship with you and your cat. And with the great advances in feline veterinary care, that relationship can last well over 15 years!
We invite you to to stop by for a tour of our hospital and some free coffee and catnip too!
