The University is named after the British researcher, Dr. Rosalind Franklin, who captured "Photograph 51" of the "B" form of DNA in 1952 at Kings College in London and first revealed to the world its double-helix structure.
As stated in Rosalind Franklin Universitys 2007-2011 Strategic Plan, the mission statement declares that the University is To serve the nation through the education of health and biomedical professionals and the discovery of knowledge dedicated to improving the health of its people.
