By following the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, we are a Mennonite church committed to community, peacemaking and compassionate service to others. We invite you to join us on our journey.
Learn more about us, our beliefs, our activities and our vision as a church. Join us for worship at our location in the Libertyville Civic Center. Mennonite Ministries, located at 324 Peterson Road, is open Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 12 noon, and by appointment.
In Biblical times, water was at a premium. Today, in the midst of God's abundance, we suffer from a shortage of time, feeling that we are always short on time or that we don't have time to do the things that matter most. During Advent, we will cultivate a different awareness of time, a contrast of our time with the imaginative ways God is remaking the world. Join us for early singing at 9:20 a.m. and worship at 9:30 a.m.
Come and engage God's story and vision in a Thursday evening Bible Study at the Mennonite Ministries office, 7:00-8:00 p.m. Roland leads a discussion on Biblical reflections and discipleship using N.T. Wright's Following Jesus as a resource.
As a community we believe God is leading us to be involved in partnering together with First Baptist Church in Waukegan in ministering to the children of the Narcotics Anonymous group that meets at First Baptist Church. We encourage members of our community to consider in what ways the Spirit of God might be leading you to participate. The kind of commitment needed is about one (1) Wednesday night per month, from 6:30 pm - 8:45 pm. If you wish to participate or need more information, please contact Roland.
First Baptist Church is at 401 N. Genesee Street in Waukegan. Park in the church parking lot off of Sheridan Road, one street east of Genesee behind the church (see Google map).
Pittsburgh 2011 Mennonite Church USA Convention
It's not too early to start planning for the 2011 Mennonite Church USA Convention in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The theme for the convention will be "Bridges to the Cross." Registration will begin in January, so make your plans and let Dale or Patty know of your interest. For information, see the Pittsburgh 2011 convention website.
The weekly email sent out to NSMC family is available online. The e-gram has announcements and current information pertaining to the activities of the congregation. This week's e-gram is available here (November 23 e-gram) or by a link in the What's New box on the right side of this page.
Beyond our gatherings for worship, we can share life through small group experiences. Small groups provide a place where we are intentionally with one another, help one another attend to God, and guide one another to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. Learn more from our small groups brochure and check our calendar for information about specific small groups.
