History of Tae Kwon Do
The origins of Tae Kwon Do can be dated to the years between 3 A.D. to 427 A.D. when ancient burial tombs were constructed in Koguryo, a kingdom in the northern part of the Korean Peninsula. Displayed on the walls are frescoes showing two men practicing Taek Kyon, a primitive form of foot fighting, Subak, a primitive form of hand fighting and Sirum, a primitive form of wrestling. The discovery of these tombs by archaeologists in 1933 effectively established Tae Kwon Do as the first Martial Art. Chinese Kung Fu was not established until Bodhi Dharma, an important Indian Buddhist Zen Master introduced the art of self-defense to the Hsiaolin Temple in 520 A.D.
