No one likes SPAM, but we feel we have to put up with it because e-mail is such an important part of our communication. LCR believes that SPAM is more than a nuisance - it takes up your valuable time and resources.

As part of our continuing effort to provide the best service possible, we are installing SpamAssassin(tm) on June 15th, 2003. Some of you may be wondering why. LCR has been quietly blacklisting spammers for a while and we have gotten good at catching the commerical emailers, like FlowGo, LA Jackpot and CurrentMail.

But blacklisting has not been effective against the hit and run, get rich quick artists trying to get us to enlarge our body parts or help them spirit millions of dollars out of Africa.

SpamAssassin is good at analysing the content of the email and letting us know what is spam and what is not. In our beta testing, we found we were catching about 75% of the spam flowing to the test accounts and only one or two legit emails were tagged as spam.

We will be just tagging email as spam by default and leaving them in your inbox to download. But we have methods of dealing with the spam for you and some pages linked below to tell you all about that.
