School Director’s Message
A pivotal decision parents are challenged to make is choosing the right preschool and kindergarten education for their child. That is why it is important to know that Oak Brook Christian School recognizes that families are the most important influence in a child’s life, their primary source of learning language, communication, culture, values, belonging, and self-confidence.
Our competent staff endeavors to work with parents to help their children achieve the best possible educational, social-emotional and spiritual outcomes in a Christ-centered and secure environment. We partner with parents to guide and direct their children through developmentally appropriate educational experiences.
The children’s critical thinking and problem solving skills are increased through participation in stimulating small and large group activities that also increase opportunities for social interaction. Because we understand children have differing interests and abilities, open-ended materials are made available for children to explore as they learn. Teachers take the necessary time to work individually to instruct children, introduce them to learning possibilities, enrich their strengths, and help to develop their weaker areas.
Character development, self-discipline skills and growth in all areas of development are planned for and monitored, so accurate feedback is available to parents. Teachers observe and assess children as they work and play in the classroom, documenting accomplishments of developmental milestones. Pictures and anecdotal comments are recorded for the purpose of future reporting to parents and for teachers to evaluate and set individual and classroom goals.
Our comprehensive faith-based curriculum is inviting and flexible to all learning styles. Experienced teachers are free to adapt the curriculum to the curiosity and interests of each child or class. The staff of Oak Brook Christian School believes childcare and education are not separate, so we are dedicated to caring for children and their families in a way that will enhance their lives and glorify God.
